Giving Thanks – Day 1

Given that Thanksgiving is this week, I think it’s appropriate to do a series over the next few days of all the things I’m thankful for. Life is hard, so naturally it’s easy to only focus on the bad in the world. It’s easy to be consumed by it. Whether it’s on the news, social media, or just people you’re around on a daily basis, we are inundated with negativity. But, when you take a step back and look at the bigger picture, there is so much to be thankful for, and there is still good in the world. But, I am the first to admit that I focus on the negative way more than I should. So, this series will be a good reminder of how blessed I truly am, and that even on my worst day, things aren’t all that bad.

This year has been a whirlwind to say the least, but so much good has come out of it. Given that so much of my blog and life revolve around being an allergy mom, I think it’s only fitting that one thing I am most thankful for in this world is my sweet son, and his health. ¬†When you come so incredibly close to losing the one thing that means the most to you, you look at life differently. I am soo thankful God chose me to be this boy’s mom, and for trusting me with this huge challenge and responsibility. I am thankful each and every day that goes by without an allergic reaction. I am thankful for doctors who specialize and research allergies, and for the medicine we have access to in the event of a reaction. I am thankful for so many wonderful allergy-free brands that make my life SO much easier on a daily basis (blog post to come on this one!)

But most of all, I am thankful for Noah just being himself. I truly could not have dreamt of a funnier, smarter, or sweeter child. Every day I look at him and wonder how I got soo lucky. I am seriously so in love with this blonde headed boy! Despite the moments when he’s such a turd, and rude and whiny, I forget about it two seconds later and love the kid anyways.

So when I go to sleep tonight, I won’t be dwelling on the negative of the day, I’ll be focusing on how thankful I am for this little ham!!
